First Time Visit

A first appointment is a Psychiatric Diagnostic Evaluation, which gives Darrell a clear picture of your concerns before treatment begins. You’ll discuss what brought you in, your history, current stressors, and what you hope to change. Darrell will ask focused questions, observe how you’re doing in real time, and may use brief assessment tools to understand your needs.

Together you’ll outline next steps and shape a plan that fits your goals.

  • For couples counseling, both partners should attend.
  • For family counseling, ideally both parents and the child attend, though a child’s participation in the first session is optional.

This session is private, collaborative, and designed to give you a strong foundation for care moving forward.

Individual Counseling (Psychotherapy) offers space to work through stress, anxiety, trauma, grief, relationship concerns, and life transitions.

Darrell uses evidence-based approaches, including Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) for Anxiety & Depression and EMDR for Trauma, to help clients gain clarity, build resilience, and form healthier emotional patterns.

Sessions focus on practical tools, emotional regulation, and developing new ways of thinking and relating.

Family Counseling (Family Psychotherapy) helps parents and children communicate more effectively, reduce conflict, and strengthen emotional connection at home.

Darrell provides a structured, calm environment where families can work through difficult moments and build healthier interaction patterns.

This work is helpful for:

  • recurring conflict
  • behavioral concerns
  • emotional regulation
  • parent-child communication
  • navigating transitions such as divorce, school issues, or grief

Couples Counseling (Marriage and Relationship Therapy) helps partners strengthen communication, repair conflict, and rebuild trust.

Darrell offers a supportive space where couples can better understand one another, break unhealthy patterns, and create a more connected and stable relationship.

Whether you are dating, engaged, married, navigating ongoing conflict, or considering separation or divorce, couples counseling can help you slow the cycle and regain clarity about your next steps together.
